What’s happening? she says
Watching CNN
Waiting for answers
Lost inside her head
Walking head down
Eyes on the ground
And angels in Amish dresses
Where’s the answer there?

Lost in children’s eyes
Lost in fear
Lost in knowing
There’s no answer here

What happened to the man
So many years ago
That turned his heart into a fist?
Why has our world turned out like this?
It’s a one-time thing, the experts say
But we watch as this one-time thing
Keeps on happening, keeps happening
Keeps happening, keeps happening, keeps on happening

Lost in children’s eyes
Lost in fear
Lost in knowing
There’s no answer here

Lost in children’s eyes
Lost in fear
Lost in knowing
There’s no answer here

Songs

Cristi Cooke: lyrics
Ian Farish: music, vocals, acoustic and electric guitars
Joby Baker: piano
Johnny Andrews: drums
Rick May: bass
Al Hannigan: additional electric guitar

This is a poem written by my friend Cristi Cooke… her feelings in the aftermath of the Amish school shootings in Pennsylvania. She emailed me the day after watching the news and I matched her words with music I had written the night before. I knew right away I was going to record the song.
