Let It Rest

Wet and cold I watch the lifeboat slip away
I cling to all I own and I cry out
Lie down, talk to God
I thought we had a deal
But I’m much too tired now for conversation

So let it rest

When I was younger I was much more in control
I knew myself or so I thought
When I set out in the world
And there were times when all the breaks
They seemed to go my way
But looking back I wonder ’cause it’s

Somewhere there’s a universe
That plays by the rules
I’d search forever just to find one
I set myself as king of all that’s beautiful and small
In an kingdom for impossible dreamers
